Strengthening mathematics teaching, K-5
Due to low enrollment, we have canceled this year's Math Workshop. Our low enrollment numbers this year have caused to reflect on what makes a great professional development experience and consider how we might modify our program to best meet the needs of elementary and middle school math educators in these busy times. We are in the process of retooling the Math Workshop at Fay School and look forward to sharing information about our Summer 2020 offerings in the coming months. If you have ideas or requests for math professional development that would be a great fit for you and your team, please don't hesitate to share them with us!

Lainie Schuster and Karen Economopoulos
Co-Directors, Math Workshop at Fay School

Enjoy an intensive week as you discover or rediscover mathematical principles, engage in true problem solving with fellow teachers, discuss the complexities of teaching and meeting the needs of students at your grade level, and formulate a plan in which discovery and problem solving can become the foundation of your curriculum.

Mission Statement
We expect that teachers who come to the workshop will leave with:
- a deeper understanding of the way children learn math
- more confidence in their own understanding of the discipline and greater instructional flexibility
- increased awareness of the key concepts specific to a grade span
- resources to supplement texts including those designed to meet the needs of a range of learners
- a renewed enthusiasm for the teaching and learning of mathematics
- an excitement about and an understanding of the need to try out new ideas, strategies, and approaches to promote meaningful mathematics instruction
